We just lost one of our three cats last week to feline diabetes and are heartbroken. He was only eight years old and we didn't know cats can get diabetes. We picked up his ashes Friday afternoon and they are sitting on our mantle.
He was our little fuzzball and we miss him very much. He was a loving cat and was so cuddly. It's was a hard decision to make to have him put to sleep, but he was not eating and only getting worse. We were with him for his last moments and know that we made the right decision to end his suffering.
We have our other two cats to help us get through his loss, but we still think about him every day. Each day gets easier, but there are still moments when thinking of him brings me to tears. We know that he is in a better place and is not sick anymore. We received a sympathy card from our vet with a saying entitled "The Rainbow Bridge". It is very special to us.
